The Roman Catholic Church has a long and rich musical tradition. Using seasonal cues, lectionary readings, and artistic quality of text and music as guides, we attempt to draw upon these musical riches to support the prayer of God’s people. We strive toward a good quality of the music itself and of its execution.
St. Mary’s adult choir currently sings monthly (usually the third Sunday) for the 10:30 a.m. Mass from September through May. The choir also provides music for Christmas Midnight Mass, Holy Week and Easter Vigil and other special occasions during the church year. Rehearsals are monthly (usually the third Wednesday) in the evening from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.. Extra rehearsals are scheduled as needed. Requirements for membership are:
1. A desire to serve the Lord and the parish.
2. The ability to sing on pitch.
3. 16 years - ?.
4. The ability to commit to seasonal rehearsal and singing schedules (starting dates are published in the parish bulletin).
St. Mary’s children/youth choir is open to all young people third grade through high school. The children/youth choir sings Christmas Day at the 10:00 a.m. Mass and Easter Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Mass. Rehearsal schedules are published in the parish bulletin.
